Somali-Ethiopia World Cup qualifier clash ends in goalless draw

The first leg of the 2014 FIFA world cup qualifier clash between Somali and Ethiopian has ended in a goalless draw at the Guled Stadium in Djibouti on Saturday afternoon.

During the hotly-contested match each side made many scoring attempts, but all lost golden opportunities.

A little while before the end of the first half Somalia’s striker Isse Abshir lost a very important scoring chance, like wise Ethiopia lost the same chance before the end of the first half when Somali goal
keeper Khaled Ali Mursal survived a ball that many thought to have got into Somalia’s goal net .

Hundreds of thousands of Somali-Ethiopian fans around the world were watching the match on the Djibouti government’s television the RTD. Likewise the Nairobi-based Bar-kulan radio and the Mogadishu-based radio Shabelle were broadcasting the match live.

Somali_National_TeamIn Mogadishu streets thousands o fans have been seen while having small radios on their ears listening to what was being broadcasted live from Al-Hajji Hassan Guled Stadium in Djibouti.

However the Somali National football team is due to travel to Addis Ababa on Sunday in preparations for the second match of the preliminary qualifying clashes which will be held in Addis Ababa on 15th  of November.

Somali Football Federation used the neighboring Djibouti as its home country since it cannot host international matches in the country because of security reasons.
