Emmys 2012: ‘Homeland,’ ‘Modern Family’ dominate awards
The 64th Primetime Emmy Awards aired live from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles on Sunday, Sept. 23. The show was hosted by Jimmy Kimmel.
Eric Stonestreet took home the night’s first honor for his role in Modern Family. The ABC sitcom swept in the comedy category with wins for Julie Bowen (Supporting Actress) and director Steve Levitan, as well as the night’s final honor of Best Comedy Series.
Homeland swept the drama category, with nods for Claire Danes, Damian Lewis and writers Alex Gansa, Howard Gordon and Gideon Raff. The show also won in the Best Drama Series category, marking the first-ever best series win for Showtime.
