Great man once said “there is nothing new under the sun”, in other words everything has been done before. I say this because much of the mistakes our leaders make can be learned from history without the people having to pay the price for unnecessary misadventures. Take the case of Somaliland, as an example. Leaders in this part of Somalia forget that anyone can declare independence but it takes international will and support to become a country. We Somalis always assume that we are the exception to the rule, forgetting that we are tied to events around the world. If people who wanted independence could get it, the U.S. would not be fifty states. The people of Kurdistan would not be scattered across Iraq, Turkey, and beyond. Top cop reaches out to Africans
Police Chief Mike Boyd is reaching out to Edmonton's African residents, most notably the violence-wracked Somali community.Since September, five young Somali men have been shot in separate incidents in the city. Only one survived.
Police have said the carnage is linked to criminal gangs and the drug trade.Some members of the Somali community have been highly critical of the police, accusing them of not doing enough to bring the killers to justice.
Police officials deny the charge, and have said that even the surviving victim is refusing to co-operate with investigators. Read All

Sad end for young refugee
DADAAB, KENYA–No one seems to remember the exact date when 13-year-old Asho Duhulow disappeared, but it was sometime in August. Days have a tendency of blending one into another and years drag on in the Dadaab refugee camp in northern Kenya, where Asho was born and raised.As a little girl Asho had heard stories about relatives in Kismayo, a southern Somali port city on the Indian Ocean. It sounded magical compared to where she lived, crammed in with a dozen people, sharing two rooms and a dirty mattress, and relying on twice monthly handouts of food.
