Turkish charity representatives join Somali wedding

wRepresentatives from Turkish aid groups joined a wedding held in the Somali capital of Mogadishu, the Anatolia news agency reported on Wednesday.Abdulmuttalib Hashim Nuurre, a translator working in the Turkish charity Kimse Yok Mu’s (Is Anybody There) logistics center in Mogadishu, married Hani Abdürrezzak Hacı Hasan in the garden of the center.

Representatives from all of the Turkish aid agencies in Mogadishu had received wedding invitations, which were written in Turkish and Somali. Both Turkish and Somali flags adorned the garden during the ceremony, which was well-attended by volunteers and representatives from various Turkish charities.

Turkey, which launched a massive humanitarian effort in Somalia in August, has had a major presence in the region. Representatives from Turkish charities have developed close relationships with each other in the meantime.

During the ceremony, the Somali and Turkish guests danced, played marbles and enjoyed one another’s company.

Kimse Yok Mu Somali representative Orhan Erdoğan, in a statement to Anatolia, said he was named Nuurre’s “spiritual father” because his own parents were not there.
