sasktSaskatoon police have arrested and charged a 27-year-old Saskatoon man in connection with the death of a Somali man found in a parking lot in July.

Ryan Waddell, 27, has been charged with manslaughter and robbery in connection with the July 20 incident. He made his first court appearance Monday and will appear again Oct. 12.

Around 11:30 p.m. on July 20, Saskatoon police were called to an apartment building in the 300 block of Sixth Avenue North, where the body of Ahmed Abdi Mohamud was found in the parking lot of 337 Sixth Avenue North. He had plummeted from the balcony of a downtown apartment suite.

Surveillance video and images of five men entering the building were soon released to the public, which Saskatoon police say resulted in “numerous calls.” Following an extensive investigation, charges were laid against Waddell.

The investigation is continuing, say police.
