We stand in the shadow of history

while others determine our destiny

can you picture this imagery

where children suffer tragically

they starve to death literally

Obama, I though change came yesterday

why do my people still watch and pray

hope and pray to see another day

I thought change came yesterday

can you picture this imagery

where we’re bombed by the U.S. military

robbed by the Europeans economically

condoned by the U.N. politically

can you picture this imagery

where we’re invaded by the Ethiopian military

supported by the U.S. financially

what ever happened to hospitality

this even makes the poet cry, helplessly

where is our sense of morality

can you picture this imagery

where we stand in the shadow of history

watch helplessly, as others determine our destiny
