KEfadumoB193Bartamaha (NAIROBI) – As part of AlertNet’s series profiling elderly persons around the world, we visit 64-year-old Fadumo Elmi Jini Bojor in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi. She lives in an area called Eastleigh, nicknamed “Little Mogadishu” because of its large Somali population.

Fadumo has been living here for the last 20 years. She fled her native city, Mogadishu, after civil war broke out in Somalia. During the conflict, she lost her husband, two children and her home. Another child was killed on the hazardous journey to Kenya.

She talks to Katy Migiro about growing old in a foreign land.
