Pair get life in casino shooting of Somali man

470_prisoner_2Bartamaha (EDMONTON): — Two men found guilty in the 2008 death of a Somali man outside an Edmonton-area casino have been sentenced to life in prison with no parole for 17 years.

Alexander Reid, who is 22, and Adam Brown, who is 23, were convicted of second-degree murder in the shooting of Mohammed Ibrahim.

Ibrahim, who was 24, was gunned down at the River Cree Casino west of Edmonton.

The Crown suggested during the trial that the shooting was in retaliation for a bar fight earlier that night.

Reid and Brown were also given four years for assault with a weapon because a woman was hit with bullets in the shooting.

Those sentences will run concurrently.
