Somali star poet dies

african newsBartamaha (Nairobi):- Famous Somali poet Abshir Noor Farah popularly known as Ba’adle has died in the Somalia capital city, Mogadishu.

He died peacefully at home after an ailment over the past days, relatives and family members told Shabelle radio on Sunday.

Several clerics, poets, composers and friends who received the news with shock sent their condolences. Farah was the head of Somali poem composers.

He would be remembered for his creative poems recited in pure Somali language. His works touched on social and religious issues.

Farah built so many public amenities including madarasa, (Islamic school) and mosques.

The spokesman of Somali poem composers Osman Abdullah Gure described him as a humanitarian person. He has since been buried at the Barakat cemetery in the northwest of Mogadishu.

The funeral was well attended by different personalities from the community.
